FCPXML Metadata Integration Made Easy

With evrExpanse's FCPXML export function, you can easily import processed media files and their metadata into a new event within an existing FCP library. The exported file is available in two formats: .fcpxml (FCPXML v 1.9) and .fcpxmld (FCPXMLD v 1.10/1.11). When media files are imported, their metadata is inherited by all media files already present in the FCP event or timeline.
Importing the media files and their metadata into Final Cut Pro is straightforward. You can either double-click on the exported file (.FCPXML or .FCPXMLD) and the application will prompt which library to import the files into, or import the FCPXML file directly from within the application.

Nikon RAW support

In addition to its broader format support, evrExpanse 3.6.0 now offers enhanced metadata export capabilities for Nikon RAW (.NEV) files. This means that when working with Nikon RAW footage, you can effortlessly export and manage all associated metadata, ensuring a seamless workflow and precise organization of your media assets.
Moreover, while DaVinci Resolve currently supports Nikon RAW files, it may not inherently read and display their metadata. However, with evrExpanse's metadata export feature, you can seamlessly import and utilize the rich metadata associated with Nikon RAW files. This ensures that your creative projects in DaVinci Resolve are not only visually stunning but also meticulously organized, thanks to comprehensive metadata management.

Media Transcoding Perfectionist

The key feature of the transcoding engine is its ability to convert digital media files into an intermediate codec while maintaining the quality of the original file. This includes preserving the resolution, aspect ratio, color accuracy, gamma, contrast, and audio structure of the original file. During transcoding, the audio streams are mapped on a one-to-one basis, preserving the same number of tracks and audio channels as the master files.

Additionally, the transcoding engine is be able to efficiently process a large number of files in batch mode, apply the same transcoding settings to all of them simultaneously, and preserve metadata information.

Video Level of the Master files are interpreted and converted if necessary. No more video levels issue in the transcoded file!

The user interface and input parameters in evrExpanse have been designed to be easy to use and efficient, with only a few options to choose from. This is intended to make the transcoding process fast and seamless for the user.

360 Video Converter

everExpanse can also process the GoPro 360 proprietary file format which uses a 360-degree video projection type (Equi-Angular Cubemap projection or EAC) not directly compatible with the type of projection (Equirectangular) supported by streaming platforms or video editing applications. evrExpanse converts these .360 files to equirectangular projection video and transcodes them to intermediate codecs embedding the master file metadata for uploading to YouTube or to edit in 360 editors, such as Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.

A broad selection of intermediate codecs

The ProRes, DNxHR, CineForm, DPX and OpenEXR codecs are designed to create working copies (Direct Intermediate workflow), which are optimised for editing and have a high quality. Additionally, there is a proxy codec available, such as HEVC (H.265), ideal for generating proxies for quick and convenient transfers.

Smart Transcoding Mode

The Smart transcoding mode in evrExpanse is a feature that analyzes the audio and video streams of the master file and decides whether to apply transcoding or passthrough based on the type of codec present. Audio and video streams are treated independently and they can be transcoded to the desired format or passthrough.

Smart mode also has an option to be compatible with Final Cut Pro since it doesn't support media with CineForm or DNx codecs.

For example, if the video codec is ProRes or DNx and the audio codec is PCM, then the software will choose to passthrough the video and audio streams instead of transcoding them to maintain maximum quality. However, if the audio codec is MP3 or ACC, then the software will choose to transcode the audio to a lossless codec, such as WAV or AIFF, to maintain the best possible audio quality.

Master Metadata Embedding

Master file metadata is embedded on the transcoded files and can be extracted with the Export Metadata functionality described above. This feature is very important if the capture codec will not be optimised for editing, because in that case it is possible to transcode to a more intuitive editing codec such as ProRes or DNxHR or CineForm and use them throughout the editing workflow (edit, color correction and gradation) without sacrificing the quality and metadata of the Master files. This capability can be offer by very few, if any, other applications on the market. Additionally, when the metadata is copied into the transcoded file, it is also embedded in XMP format, and many metadata can be viewed directly in Adobe Premiere Pro without any additional steps.
